Azeri scientists claim invention of quake warning device
A two-day conference, "Geophysical and geo-chemical prediction and earthquake study", attended by some 250 scientists from Azerbaijan, as well as experts from Russia and Georgia, completed at the Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Geology Friday.
General director of the Institute Karim Karimov told AssA-Irada that Azeri scientists had invented an earthquake warning device enabling to predict quakes some 5-12 hours ahead. He said the device could even forecast the magnitude of quakes, which, however, requires installation of 3 seismological stations totaling $300,000 in Azerbaijan.*
