Parliament mulls mandate deprivation
Speaker of the Milli Mejlis Murtuz Alasgarov has applied to the disciplinary commission for deprivation of MP Mirmahmud Fattayev of his parliamentary mandate. Chairman of the commission Karim Karimov told its meeting Wednesday that under the parliament’s internal by-laws an MP absent from 30 sessions could be stripped of his or her mandate. M. Fattayev has missed 72 sessions, he said.
The commissioners unanimously voted to unseat M. Fattayev, who has never attended parliament session since the parliament elections on November 5 2000.*
