Parliament approves newspaper chief editor
Azeri President Aliyev issued decrees to dismiss the editor-in chief of the “Azerbaijan” newspaper, the publication of the Azeri parliament, Amir Mustafayev following his appeal for bad health. MP Bakhtiyar Sadigov was appointed to the post.
MPs approved the decrees in a session Friday. Mr. Sadigov had been chief of the newspaper's department and elected MP in 2000 before the appointment.
In another decree, Mahal Ismayiloglu was sacked as chief editor of the "Khalg Gazeti" and Hasan Hasanov, deputy chairman of the State TV and radio company, named for the position.*
